I cringe at this kind of thing myself. For me it reeks or cheesey tourist shops. The seller is writing up some serious hoo-ha around the value of this carpet though.

I actually like this personaly, for myself, a lot. But what's with the "Arts & Crafts" thing. This carpet is almost new. Arts & Crafts movment is over. Except at K-Mart.

True, this seller has several listings that have been exaggerated on both age, value and are often misnamed. I think Tabriz noted some of his items, and many of the "silk rugs" I doubt are actually silk

Haha, well it is a good looking rug. I think arts and crafts refers more to "William Morris" Designs: Not tribal rugs...

Exactly. Arts & Crafts did produce textiles and some carpets and even wall paper, ala William Morris. But tribal rugs? I'm thinking not. What's next? Art Nouveau Balouchi carpets and PreRaphaelite Hamedans?

Here is a rug just as a sample, not that I particularly like it. But I can't help but notice that this seller's pictures are almost ALL similarly fogged over with a gold light. Impossible to get a real sense of the color of the rugs when you can see the floor is the same exact color palate as the rugs. And I see hundreds of rugs like this from this seller, all gold filtered, or else photoshopped and the yellow bumped up to a ridiculous degree.

I love this. And I do see the medallions are a bit crooked. But that line to the left of the medallions, is that a fold do you thihk, or a more permanent anamoly? My monitor is set right, but I'm not getting a super clear picture of that area.

This is kind of interesting. Do you think it has been cropped. or is this the final piece with no borders? This is one of those times I'd really love to see this in person. And I do see the threadbare spots. But it strangely has an almost medieval european look to it, Persian script aside and all ... like the tapestries I was referring to in an earlier post.

I agree with the gold lighting. It's no good... I just wonder why they don't fix it. It seems like a lot of people buy those rugs to resell them, unless of course his are extremely worn? There are a couple interesting sellers that have eBay stores overseas. I noticed one from Switzerland which was interesting too, although some of the items the age had been significantly inflated.

As for the Kashmar, that certainly was a cut down rug. The other thing is it looks chalked. there's a lot of color run, and areas that texture appears to be too close to the warp to be as rich in color as they are. The second one posted in the last message is known as a Tabatabaei, which is a very, very unusual design for the types of rugs which were usually produced.

The last one... Estimated retail value $27,552 ? Hmmm, I mean really, that's really almost offensive to people. What does a seller like this have a problem with bring honest to people?

What is this "tinyurl" thing anyway?
