this is machine made. there are many of these online. I don't know what the quality or durability of them is. If you are looking for a rug, I would recommend a hand knotted one.

Hi RugPro, Thanks for your quick response. My main intention was to buy hand made real Persian rugs. But this morning when I logged on to eBay I saw a bidding for Tabriz 8 X 10 ending in 3 min and without looking at the details I bid $200 and I am the winner. Then I realized it's a machine made one. Now I am thinking that how can I get out of it. Prasad

I would not necessarily say to avoid the rug altogether... But these guys use trickery to get sales, making the rug appear as though it's hand knotted by using terms only applied to hand knotted rugs for advertising their machine made ones. If you don't want the rug, contact them and explain you made an honest mistake. If they refuse to refund, contact Dave from rug rag: info@rugrag.comsee a video from a while ago http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g91SBn31ctM

thanks again, RugPro. I contacted these sellers and they are asking me to pay $15 penalty. I guess that's better than loosing $200. BTW, the Video pointed out exactly how I made my mistake.

no prob. $15 is not too bad, but still it's not cool what they do. ebay does nothing about this kind of problematic tactic. in my opinion you shouldn't have to pay anything at all. remember, you're the buyer. they cant leave you negative feedback!

Prasad ...
I would write eBay and complain very aggressively about the misadvertising on the rug you bought. I know about that myself and have bought a lot of rugs on eBay and have noticed also that many of them from certain sellers advertise "Persian Mashad Rug" or some other region and then when you drill down a few pages into the closer specs you see it's machine made or "polypropalyne" or whatever the crap is they use that's really just plastic. eBay needs to get wise and start forcing their sellers to categorize more accurately. This happens in other categories too. If they learn that their own livelihood is jeapordized by covering for crooks then maybe they will do something. They can't police every seller but they can create new categories and if sellers misrepresent their wares they can suffer penalties be locked out of selling. They can do something. But it's also a good excuse to learn how to be more dilligent in watching and reading the listings. Soon you will be able to spot these poly crap carpets almost at a glance as they do have a sterile perfect look to them that's a dead give away once you've looked at a million rugs.

You can write to eBay if you want but they won't do anything. I wrote them about a few things and they said they would look into it but nothing happened. Maybe after time if enough people complain things will change but it will take time. So many rug dealers on eBay blatantly lie or distort the truth that some of them should be baned. I've seen heavily painted rugs where it isn't mentioned at all and fragments passed off as rugs, new rugs as antiques, you get the point. Many of the dealer don't know what they are doing anyway any but always say the rug is older than it is never newer than it is. I know in the American Indian jewelry section now you can't say it's Indian unless it's signed or something. They are in it for the money and that's about all they care about. They need some competition.
