Well the auction ended and final bid of only $271 plus shipping etc. I think the buyer got a good deal even if condition could be better. I would have bid on it if I had the money, anyone here bid or buy it? Things are real tight right now for me . Anyway I thought it was a Shahsavan piece from the Daghastan area. I found a couple examples a couple days ago or so but we had a thunderstorm and like three inches of rain in fifteen minutes and the power went out and I haven't searched my history or looked for them again. Rugrag.com said to bring them over and find out about them. I'd like to get at least one response even to say no it's not that. thanks

completely missed this!

a really great looking piece with nice healthy colors. I am not too familiar with this type, but if I had to guess, I think you hit the nail on the head with shahsavan. not in the market for rugs myself, but if I were, i probably would have been comfortable bidding at that level despite condition. Nice find Ed!

that widget is fun to keep an eye on and see what pops up. interesting to see a karastan on there right now. it's received a few questions too.

In better condition, this one would have awesome collection potential. really, really beautiful field. http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?icep_ff3=2&pub=5574716523&toolid=10001&campid=5336111917&customid=Forum&icep_item=190322062943&ipn=psmain&icep_vectorid=229466&kwid=902099&mtid=824&kw=lg

Yes it is, you would think people would have enough sense to take them off the floor when the start to wear that way but I guess that is why a good one is so rare. If you go to his other items he has an interesting gabbeh or something under that eames chair.

I'd have to question that orange and the 1880 attribution maybe 1910 but still very nice piece sold for $510. Maybe it's headed back to the mid east for a re-weave. Great colors though.

That orange is probably a madder after looking at some other rugs and a few references by John Wertime as well as being from about 1880. I guess if the orange isn't with another fugitive color you have a good indication that it's natural.

There is one over on Barry O'Connell's site that I just found. http://www.spongobongo.com/Turkbook.htm. All my books and magazines are in boxes right now and not really looking for more but that one looks good as do all of them on the page.
