okay, so we had my sarouk professionally repaired. we had Mo of Connoisseur Oriental Rug, who were absolutely great (if anyone in the Chicagoland area is looking for someone to deal w, please see Mo...www.connoisseurrugs.com).

he removed the non-original fringe and repaired the selvedge...and in removing the non-original fringe, which was glued and stiched on, he saved the outer most red wool, which makes it not shortened (is that correct, Rugpro). the rug cost us 400 and the repairs and cleaning cost us 600, so we're 1000 in, but is so, so worth it...it looks amazing. he said it was a really great piece from the early 1920s, vegetable dies and thought the wool was really good quality...the rug is approximately 8'5x11'4...

...so, with all this information, i'd like to find-out the current estimated value...please let me know what you think...

thanks!

What is the condition of the pile in the middle? If the pile is in good condition, you're looking at as much as $6500 if you wanted to buy a rug like this. If the pile is very worn, it would be closer to $1500.

I think you did a good job either way. You can't buy a new tufted piece in that size and color scheme for that price anymore.

it's a great looking example. shows ten times better without that machined fringe. I remember it took a while for you to track down this rug mosaic, and i think you got a winner

As jahann noted, i really dont think you can go wrong with the $ invested. I took a look back at the rug from when you originally posted, seemed as though there was only one main area of isolated wear as attached. probably at the lower end of the stated value range as mentioned by jahann. bottom line, if you kept the rug in its present condition (provided there are no structural concerns), there's no reason you could not sell it for more than you paid all inclusive.
