Hello,

I have a rug that belonged to my great-grandmother and I believe she bought it in the 1920s or 1930s. She always referred to it as "the Sarouk" but I do not know if that is accurate.

Here are the images:

1 - Full Rug - 10' x 17' 6"

2 - Selvages

3 - Fringe Going into Rug

4 - Quarter on Knots

5 - Worn Areas

6 - Pile Closeup

My ultimate goal is getting an estimate on value/price, but any other information you can provide will be greatly appreciated. The rug will not fit in my home so I'd like to find a buyer, and I want to make sure I understand the rug as much as possible before moving forward.

Thanks,

CD

Hello.
Yes, it is a Saruk from about 1930. A re-colored one, called US-Re-Import Saruk (here in Germany). You can see on the closer shots the coloring is not even.
Because of the worn areas you will get a price about 700,- - 1.000,- USD.

In the US these sometimes go for more even in private sale. as many have seen here on the forum, even some in much worse shape have gone for $1200. Looks like a 9x12? if so, I would say up to 1-2k, but this depends heavily on condition
