I would like your opinion on the best method to hang a rug on a wall as an art piece. I would prefer to not have any visible mounting, hangers, or hooks. I have read about sewing a sleeve to the back of the rug but cannot find anyone locally (charlotte, NC) who does it. Is it something I can do myself without devaluing the piece?

About 5x8, no fringe.

Thank you,
R.

welcome to the forum!

there's def. someone in your area who would sew on the sleeve. it's one of the better ways to do it, although I have even heard of people using commercial grade velcro for very fine pieces. problem with this is the adhesive may stick to the carpet after they're removed. with a wool rug you can use afta or another agent to clean it.

If you can, opt to have a professional sew on the sleeve. most importantly, make sure whatever is done will be reversible. Sewing a sleeve on a healthy rug should not compromise the value, and should be entirely reversible
