Hi guys,

I picked up this rug for free from a lady who didn't have room for it. She said it was her grandmother's rug, so I think it's an antique. It's just sat in our hallway getting trampled on, so I thought i'd post it on here to see if I can find out a bit more about it (what it's made out of, how old it might be, where from, etc).

Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the tip. I've uploaded some better pics

1. Full photo of rug taken from the lighter side: http://farm4.static.flic...8072394_b707e457fa_b.jpg
2. Edge of rug: http://farm3.static.flic...528076214_a2d58f67af.jpg
3. Fringe going into rug: http://farm4.static.flic...528068150_f7433162a9.jpg
Underside of fringe and damage: http://farm3.static.flic...528068154_44589fa16b.jpg
4. Knots on ruler measure (I'm in England so I don't have a quarter!): http://farm4.static.flic...8068138_bfe5e31783_b.jpg
5. The only worn area are the fringes
6. Pile: http://farm4.static.flic...5172253_ba72b99820_b.jpg

Thanks, it's quite gloomy and stormy here today so they're not very bright photos.

Very nice looking rug and thanks for the additional photos. I'm def. leaning toward turkish, although it could be another weaving country too. My guess on age is between 40-60 years old. I did not ask size, but I would imagine this is around 2'6" x 6 feet?
