Ok, this is my first Topic on ragrug. I think its a good thing that you can get advise form experts and people that dwell in rugs.

I am not really familiar with how to insert links and stuff so I hope I don't screw up.

Luri Bakhtiari Wedding Rug?

I feel comfortable that its an older piece , probably a good antique . The seller though knowledgeable seems a bit dizzy. This was offered earlier at over $15,000 fixed with best offer . Then the price kept on coming down , last of which I think was about $8000.

The questions I have:

Is this a Luri Bakhtiari ? The images take forever to load but there are images of the back towards the end.

Is it really or could it be considered a Wedding Rug as the seller suggest?

and last but not the least, what would be a good price to buy it for?

really cool piece looks to be in decent condition. some areas seem close to knot heads, but these rugs never were incredibly full. One small quarter area of moth damage that I saw in the pics. I would guess the description seems okay. I think luri may be appropriate but I'm not entirely familiar with this type. the design has what some call a gul farang, which loosely translates to rose flower. you see these in karabagh rugs too at times. I would guess close to 100 years. ends are pretty complete. I like that deeply saturated selvage. This is one with similar flowers, but it's armenian and has softer colors. that one was like a bessarabian design.

It's a very fun rug, but may not be everyone's cup of tea. Price seems heavy to me for online. shouldn't be used as a point of reference really. It helps to see past indicators like this item from the same seller: Asking 1600 with a best offer of 300 accepted. Perhaps a bit of fishing... 5,000 for 1,000

Hi Rug pro. Thanks for the tips . The Karabagh Rug is really ugly! It has no color and its just not the same thing. This one I like because of many other factors like the fact that its wool foundation, a clean crisp weave ( see the back image) . I am familiar with Gul Farang ( Bouquet Design) but this one is pretty nuts with all the weird figures and human figures ( actually looks like cowboys) and other elements and figures which I am still trying to figure out what they are suppose to represent. So there is really no comparison in color, class, and detail between this and the Karabagh you provided a link of. DO you think this is actually a wedding rug? Does that fit into your realm of acceptance? And thanks for all the tips on price and such but can you give me an idea at what price I would be happy that I have bought this rug for like what would be its wholesale value? ( I am not going to hold you on that, just need a marker of some kind).

Thank you again.

If you are talking about wholesale value, and have affiliation with this seller, we strongly encourage you bring this carpet to our dealer to dealer section. In this area of the forum, you need to confirm you are a seller. contact info@rugrag.com
