Very nice little rug.
looks like a josan sarouk or very coarse fereghan - again, around first quarter 20th century. Great design. it may be worth it to have them restore the end where the knots were lost up to the
minor guard border. whatever you do, DO NOT let them pull out the surrounding rows to even it up with the rest of the rug, this will be bad for value. it's better to leave as is if that's what the repair specialist says. again, good rug, probably has some value, but the missing knots would allude to needing additional intention and therefore more up front $ for repair. it's not uncommon when rugs like this come up, it's more cost effective to sell to dealers only because finding someone good for the job may mean sending it out and repair cost to individuals may be prohibitive. If you have the time, the money, and don't mind waiting it out or finding a good specialist, its probably worth repairing so long as there are no other serious conditional issues.
