It's a nice looking rug for sure.

I'm not entirely familiar witht he exact areas that some of these pieces come from, but from my experience it seems as though this may be an Afghan/Pakistan piece. Probably not much older than 50-60years. Appears to be wool pile on wool foundation (which is slightly more desirable that the conventional cotton foundation).

As for value: on the plus side- the rug appears to be mostly intact. All ends and corners seem to be secure, so that is good. Also the colors are very nice, as opposed to many of its contemporaries with garish hues. what's not particularly great is the uneven and isolated areas of wear/low pile.

Regarding a number, this is the difficult part. I tend to think of things in terms of what I would be willing to spend on ebay (excluding taste and budget). With that being said: I'd have say less than $200

Like I always say- this is strictly my opinion, and with carpets worth is a subjective value.

I have this same carpet. I bought the carpet in Jakarta about five years ago. My understanding at the time was that the carpet was Dagestan or Kazakh, but I bought several at that time and I could have mistaken it with another. I paid $900 for mine. It is in the entry of our apartment.

I am new to the forum and the first carpet I saw looked familiar!!!
