This Craiglsit rug is not in my home area, but by chance I will be in this city today. I'm going to take the time to see it. From the pictures it has the "look' of a very old rug, but looks can be decieving. If nothing else I wanted to post because it looks so interesting. but yet available for a smalll amount.

The fringe is not complete, but the full side of the rug are complete. Low pile and some unevenness pile with no foundation showing.

Any thoughts. I have to admit I'm like a kid in a candy store regarding rugs. Each piece looks good.

Here is another question on this and the Atiyeh kirman. Let's assume they are both very desirable rug for those type collectors, lovers of that type of rug. But where is the market. Specifically is there auction houses that specialize in fne rugs that accept rugs of special interest.

Thanks

What kind of Kurdish carpet is displayed here? Turkish, Persian, from western areas, from Mashad area? How can very old age be verified? A 200 yr old carpet carpet must have been kept in a box to loook like this. I suppose, it is only guessing and a crude attempt to attract attention. I have seen numerous of these offered by ebay (why should anybody offer them there if he/she was certain that it has this age?).

Hi Farhad!

Quick glance I don't believe the rug is that old, but we may be able to provide insight if you have additional photos or may be able to request them. We would need to see numbers 1-4 to possibly determine age and weaver.

I promise to never put another rug on this site until I see it. Ths rug looked like it was from the '70 with the patena I saw in the picture not present. However, I agree with Fahad if there is not a specificstyle that dates a rug, how does one estimate the date? Is style and condittion of the rug the lone indicators?

That's funny, I thought Farhad had posted this rug.

My feeling is this may be a newer Turkish Rug similar to some of the Oushak revivals. Oh well, more pics would help.

I like and relate to btuma6. The addiction---tho my goal is singular-- and we are blinded to facts. I know nuthin so it looked old to me as well. Sigh.

Not only should all rugs be Authenticated here.....SHOPPERS SHOULD BE AS WELL!!!!! lol
