I am waiting to see if NJ rug guy is smoke & mirrors or real Deal re the rug I may get if he is legit.

Meantime, I go on looking. Just found this by first time ebay seller in CA; looks not so hot, but I will find out; just cause it's old, don mean it's worth Ugatz. (Pro....did U get that? lol) Looks like bad colors to begin with---given the reds of the stuff in the room seem accurate, a low end example and I have no clue re condition. Or, even size. http://rover.ebay.com/ro...9&mtid=824&kw=lg &fromMakeTrack=true#ebayphotohosting

Mailed him both via eBay's "ask a question" and then, cause he put his email and said he would send more pics, copied him:

Hi again, Sarouk owner.

I am copying you using yr email address that which I just sent you via ebay:

Dear leftysbakery,

Hi,

just saw this. First, you list the size two ways; what that is the accurate size of the rug?

Next, can you provide more details about the condition, i.e, how much pile remains and if there are any low areas wherein one sees the base or knotheads. Also if the base is dry in any sections.

It would be fabulous if you could also send more pics, including closeups.....the one you provide very hard to determine the thingsI need to know from.

With digital, it takes little time and you could attach them to an email. Not just helpful.....crucial.

Thanks so much,
Jill

I assume you are Southpaw. I am too.
Look forward to more info and pics!!!

In ebay time 20 hours is big time. I said I knew you would like it, U like antique rugs even if they are not so hot. lol; I find it Less Than even not knowing specifics. Not sure why U think it's a she.....but that too is interesting. U can only do wut U can do. Looks like my cheerleading costume in HS. Red & Blue. And that, was GOOD red and Good Blue.

If only I had kept the pics of mine.....U would see why I am so judgmental about vintage Sarouks. I honestly think I know the goods ones from the garbage. Once you've had a good one, you in ways took for granted, you can't settle for blech. And I iwll NOT. WOULD FAR RATHER HAVE A GOOD NEW REPRODUCTION.

Will post if I get any further info. Lord know he or she offered almost nuthing.....even the listed size isn't consistent! I would think posting on ebay not rocket science.

PS; I am busy and never sleep and today my patience wit da whole rug thing is low. I am tired of asking vendors FOR BASIC THINGS OVER AND OVER. From this Daniel guy in NJ with the nice neo Masahd (in another thread) he writes can't U see the tight weave from the underside pic? LOOK INTO MY EYES. FOCUS. Now, watch my lips: "NNNNNNNOOOOOOOO, I can NOT."

This human in Calif should have offered basic info, OK? Either he or she is lazy, or.....sumthing big wrong with this not pretty Sarouk....and he or she is countin on someone going the crap shoot route absent data. I mean it. I like adventures. That is not the same as crap shoots.

Jesus, for openers, get the SIZE RIGHT!!!! iS IT 10 X 13, OR IS IT 9 x 12? how hard could it be to get that right?"???? U take the time to register as a seller, make a post, put up a pic......do it right, oK? U say U have other pics? PUT THEM in THE DAMN LISTING!!!!!

And not every left handed person is a ditz, OK? I am left handed. Obama is as well. so that ain no excuse, OK?

Bet tons of people followed up like I did. Everyone waiting. At last minute someone will do the no info-crap shoot thingy. I RESENT THIS, OK? I hope I am wrong.

Update: just under 2 hours to go n this insanity wit dis bad colors God only Knows Sarouk. No bids. And, at least at my IP address, no responses at all to my two original emails.

Mind U.....one of the few things the lefty baker includes is 'No Returns."

3 possibilities here:
1) He or she cut some illegal deal with someone responding to the listing.
2) He or she is a total moron.
3) As per above, some crap shoot oriented human ABSENT ALL the necessary info, will leap in at last minute with low bid in hopes this isn't a total garbage rug. Which I will bet it is.

Tell me this is not INSANE!!!!

10x13 is kind of odd for an old Sarouk.

Somewhat surprised to see this-

Not surprised that a seller with Zero feedback has not responded. And you shouldn't be either Whistle

Anyway, more around the bend...

If you look carefully, U will see he or she listed it both 10 X 13 and 9 X 12. I asked about this disparity in the mails I sent which I pasted above.

I am convinced that it wasn't the zero feedback.....remember this is an ebay newbie, everyone who sells on ebay was at some point. It was simply the total dearth of info about the item and, if I am an example, that nobody responded to questions.

I remember buying couple of items from new ebay sellers with no feedback. Not a problem. You could feel by the listings, the person was normal and intelligent and responsible.

Evan as a buyer....naturally start with no feedback, right? I guess there are people who do this. I just never saw it or expected it.

Update:

U live, you learn. Every second, and sometimes being wrong is the Best; I was like THRILLED HE IS NORMAL. Just came home and found this, and replied. I just feel happy he is normal, lovely guy and I hope he sells his rug and saves his bakery.....but not pretty and too much repair needed for me; I think here this kinda repair would be insane, FORGET THE CLEANING ADDED....many HUNDREDS ALL TOGETHER AND NOT PRETTY or in decent shape RUG.

hEY, John! Thanks for the info; I am just a little human hunting for a rug 4 my livingroom; I only know stuff now, and it's not much, trust me... cause I joined amazing rug site where I got educated in last weeks. Cept I also live in Manhattan.....could get on the red eye, to say hello.....but not right now. lol

I think the condition issues for me at least, might be a deal breaker. But I will ponder.

Again, so happy to have heard from U!

Jill

Hi Jill,
Sorry I wasn't able to reply sooner. I couldn't get to my computer yesterday. The rug is 11' 8" x 9' 1". There is one very small thin spot at one end of the rug. At the other end the border is missing for a foot and a half. Otherwise the rug is in good condition. There are no holes. Not sure what you mean by the base being dry. Sounds like you really know your rugs. Are you a dealer or a collector? The Sarouk I have was appraised in 2001 and was valued at $1,600. I could fax you the appraisal. I am selling it cheap because I am trying to raise money for my bakery and times are hard. Yes, I am a lefty. My business partner is too - hence the name. I have attached pictures of the rug and can take more if you'd like. Also if you are anywhere near Northern California or Southern Oregon we can figure out a way for you to inspect the rug.
Thanks and take care,
John

I was in a rush, I forgot up upload the images John was nice eough to send. not only does it need repair, but pile very low, knotheads showing....and most of all, terrible colors. Weak, dead, faded. the antithesis of mine, alas.

Let me upload for others to see. I now luv John and feel TERRIBLE i MUSJUDGED HIM FROM new Rug PARANOIA. I learn every second. Mea Culpa. Fear and mistrust can be very dangerous when we extend those without justification.

God you are the ultimate antique Rug Romantic!!!!! Now even MORE...I wish I had not thrown the pics of mine out. they might even amend yr current vision of REALLY exceptional antique Sarouks.. I mean it. lol Yes, he is FABULOUS. I already prayed he can save his bakery. I am a total mush but was born this way and get tired of people making fun of this.

i would luv to buy my rug from a lefty. We comprise only 10% of the human population cross culturally....and we are all a little STRANGE.

Pro....check out what I just posted form Rose in China. Today.....I am being GIFTED by being reminded what fine humans exist all over the world. I feel NOURISHED bigtime! Making me very emotional.

Update:

This is the dearest guy West of the Mississipi. I feel terrible this rug is hard to sell.....I just mailed him some thooughts re starting an online bakery.

Hey Jill,
An apartment in Manahattan - how exciting! And quite an accomplishment - I've heard apartments there are a little expensive. Anyway, thanks for considering the rug and if you change your mind just send me an e-mail.
Take care and good luck,
John

I am not kind. I have a grand trine in water and I am a mush. I just feel bad for him, is all. The world is filled with sleazoids and he is an anti sleazoid. He is also the antithesis of Mitch. For whom I feel pity but not empathy. Empathy morphis into ity when U loose respect.

Given this is single attempt to sell something for John, I don't see real point in his getting verified. Cause clearly, the reason people are not interested is the condition and that the colors not good. Anyone who receives mail form him will be able to tell he is real Deal human in need of money.

I think I should tell him to try local Craigslist!!! If someone could save shipping costs, it might sell.

true, a rug like his on ebay would do really well on ebay with NR, but to augment the NR a verification would help a lot. we had one person a while back get one and the rug got a LOT more than what would have been expected. nearly 40% more

OK.....I am assuming, in order to earn verification, he would have to provide return option. I can feel he really needs money and don wanna do that. He is in a need-based hurry. I am positive.

For anyone embrloied in this individual rug opera.....again, this is lovely guy:

Hey Jilly,
Thanks! You're mighty nice yourself. Unfortunately being nice doesn't help with the rent

I had thought about starting an on line business. My idea was to sell care packages to parents who have kids in college. They would pay me and I would send a box of cookies or brownies overnight to their kid. Whadya think? Do you have some ideas for an on line business? Maybe I could start a virtual bakery in 2nd life.. The other thing I'm considering is trying to get a part time job.

If you don't mind me asking, what do you do for work? And have you heard of the group Pink Martini? I've been listening to them a lot lately. Well I'd better get going. It's been a long day - up at 2:30 and this afternoon I had to drive to Medford for supplies for the bakery My computer is at the bakery and I should go home and give my dogs some attention.

Ciao,

-John

Hi Jill,
I did post it on Craig's List - for $1,500! Suprisingly I didn't get any takers. See - at $400 you are getting a heck of a deal. When you do get a rug send me a photo of it if you can.
