Just found this one. Pro & Krow=right: it can be a sad mess; in these, "good" condition is a total stretch; people think anything old rocks. Not only is this small, its orignal design was not that hot, the colors are pathetic , even if had never bene painted which it appears it never was..and the condition abysmal.

Best part: the labels. I wonder how much they want just for those?

Nobody tell me $65 for shipping for this small and thin as paper rug isn't opportunism.

Shipping would be less. Like MAYBE UPS Ground $25 cross country. Then again, it is a NR. But you're right, it's got condition issues

Ditto. Also, even worse, issues of ugly. But I do luve the labels.

At $76 that thing has hit its ceiling as far as my two cents goes. However, that kind of a trashed old rug would be charming in a shabby chic setting in the kitchen of old barn conversion in Woodstock. But not in the main foyer of a grand entry hall in Rhinebeck. It's all a matter of context and use and price and right customer.

I do cherish yr creative, poetic vision; a while back, someone here put up a vivid, stripped tribal, kinda rug and you said you would put it down and design a room around it. (Jily has total recall, this is a very mixed blessing, trust me.)

All I can say and increasingly....this is very scary & complex subculture.

And what is Rhinebeck and why does it bear cache?

Rhinebeck is about 90 min north of Manhattan on the Hudson River and has some of the grandest and largest estates from the late 19th century. Rockefeller homes are still located in Rhinebeck. People who live in Rhinebeck, some of them, take helicopters to work in Manhattan. At least they used to. Probably most still do because it's old money.

I just wrote response then accidentally deleted it with my pinky. One more once if I can:

I am geographically stupid. Cause I don care usually. Now this place you are telling me about.....no way any kinda miilieu I would respect or aspire to. Old Money is vintage Bentleys with perfectly veneered dashboards. This sounds like insular, necrotic, no eros, not a shred of crativity milieu with English period furniture and noblese oblige sensibilities I ABHOR.

NOT MY CUPPA. BORRRRRING. No STYLE.

I like CRIBS. Antithesis of Old Money everything. New money cliche ridden: the requisite granite countertops, the neo Mediterranean or pseudo Colonial homes, the Sub Z, the shark tank, the 52' plasma TVs, the jacuzzi, the pool table, the tricked out rides, the pneumatic everything. New Money Cliche.

And yet, whichever have not ghettos these once disenfranchised humans have clawed their way out of....and be the new money from Hip Hop or the NBA....I LIKE THESE PEOPLE. Most have passion, verve, smarts beyond streetsmarts, verve, and each has survived more real world challenges than any of those in those choppers.

They are interesting individuals. I like INTERESTING INDIVIDUALS.

So I ain impressed wit dis Rhineback place I only now learned about, sorry.

PS Wut is this work they do? Manage corrupt banks and lending institutions? Oversee the inherited portfolios of their peeps and the progency of their peeps Yawn.

There is every possible type of person in Rhinebeck, from the old geezer to the internet hipster and yes, even some hip hop millionaires. I dind't ask you to be impressed but it's a very interesting slice of American culture and some fabulous architecture. And some good paying customers for those in the rug business.

Ten Four. I was just responding in the way I do to everyone and everything every minute. To thine own self be true. In the realm of living beings....it is is always the mutts who mainly have the smarts and the health.

Relatedly.....that is also what made America the singular place it was. A rich, diverse amalgam of mutts. and always remember ghettos come in all forms.

Live and learn. While these data are from 2000....unless everything has changed, this community is not what I thought; old money necrotic. Given the demographics and esp the average income. Not at all! forget, it's a small community!:
