surprisingly, some of these older/mid 20th and earlier Kermans do get very good money, the only thing is..... When it's private party sale, your looking at a fraction of retail. especially with this style and design. Some dealers that sell excellent quality kermans in mint condition (as in never used for 60 + years) kermans for almost 2x this asking price. these are usually around 225 KPSI and have some natural dye and timeless or classic colors. What sets them apart is usually a higher understanding of design execution etc.

I have no idea what the condition is for this CL piece, but again, some of the good ones do go for big bucks.

Keep in mind, it sounds like a lot of money, but this rug is more than 3 times the size an 8x10 rug. Square feet is around 270, $/per foot is $72. It does seem like a lot for a private seller, but again, some of Kermans between 1920-1950 vintage I've heard upwards of $250+/ sq. ft for choice pieces 300 KPSI +

It really all depends. I wonder what the condition is and what the knot count is too. For any Kerman, condition is huge and design/colors are essential to value as well. The problem is these rugs were made in such a wide array of qualities. As with many rugs, but especially Kermans, 2 rugs with the same KPSI, yarn ply and colors could be vastly different in value. A final product in a Kerman shows readily the apparent understanding or lack there of in design mapping / weaving. If the design and detail is well suited for the quality, that's good, if it's less than expected, bad...
