RJ, thanks for dropping by and I wish there had been a more prompt reply.
Unfortunately, kilims (flat weaves) don't seem to generate as much interest as many piled rugs and consequently many of us often have less experience with them.
I have been looking thru several reference books over the last couple of evenings and I just can't find an example that would compare to what you have.
The fact that it was repaired does in some measure indicate it was worthy of some care but the dramatic color difference shown leaves a bit of a question in my mind.
I am *not* an expert but, as a merchant, I would not place a high dollar value on this rug. That is partly from the "plain" pattern and partly because I don't think the "old rug" market is very strong these days....indeed it seems weak.
As for getting an insurance value, I suggest you find a certified rug appraiser in your area.
