I am preparing the sale of this rug (separate post for a second rug) and would appreciate your feedback on origin and price estimation (ballpark of course).
It's been in the family for over 30 years and was purchased from a reputed antique / vintage rug dealer in Beirut (Lebanon).
What are your thoughts ?
Dimensions are 380cm x 420cm

It is a very fine and unusual design Isfehan. I have a feeling that the foundation is silk. It is depressed market at the moment but I think there will be demand for this. As for the price it depends where you want to sell it. If it is privately on an online platform I would go for about $14000 and take offers. I might even revise my estimate up if I saw it closeup, as with these fine pieces small issues can affect the price and I believe I have been conservative with the price. I am not sure where you are but you can always show it to a specialist auction house, preferably Christie's and see if they take it and at what price.

Thank you for the feedback. This fits much better with what i know of this carpet.
One of the reasons i posted is that i had submitted this rug to an auction house here in France (a very reputed one i may add). Their feedback was a Tabriz and an evaluation of 1000/1500 euro. Needless to say i was quite surprised as i was pretty confident it was an Isfahan (possibly - although unusual in this size - a wool Qom) and was in the range of 15 to 20k (based on 2011 prices). Turns out i wasn't far off.
I am just south of Paris (France) and would be happy to discuss further with you as i am seeking to sell this rug, along with the Turkish/Persian posted separately, and a Hereke (Uzbeck i believe).
If i may, i will call you early next week.
Kind regards,
Robert
