Hello again!
I'm trying to learn more about this rug--
identification,
age,
value, as well as info on the technique and
symbols. Any help would be appreciated.
Size: 6'6" x 3'4"
My best guess (which could very well be incorrect) is that is is a Malayer. This guess is based on the pattern and the colors--deep navy blue field and secondary tones: sage green, watermelon, salmon, and gold.
Some background on our batch of rugs:
We recently received several antique Persian rugs from my bf's family. The rugs were purchased in Iran by my bf's grandfather who had a rug business in Wisconsin. According to his dad, they are over 100 years old.
I am including some pictures. Please forgive the poor lighting. Any info is appreciated!
Thank you!
Nina
