Hi,
I hope someone can help me ID this flat weave rug I recently purchased. Size is about 40 X 55". Kilim or some type of tapestry? Design looks Caucasian or Caucasian influenced. My guess is that it is modern Turkish? Please let me know anything else about it.
Thanks,
Bruce

It is a Persian Shahsavan Kilim from Northeast of Iran. The weave is a sumak weave and I think its about 20 years old.

Sharafian is right. This is a new Persian Sahseven. They use sumak weaving techniques. it is a very common piece in Turkey. They generally sell them as Turkish piece. Still beautiful and handmade. Your sumak made of Wool, cotton and some silk. You can also see Persian sumak that made of just silk.
