This is a 6 laa Nain, about 11' 5" x 8'5".
Condition is about 100% (meaning I can't detect any damage, repair, stain , etc.).

Your thoughts on workmanship, color and design?
(I estimate the kpsi about 650. Weaver seems to have used a lot of silk in the highlights.)

Is this type/quality of rug "easy" to find?
Current estimate of (fair) retail value?

Thank you for your time and insights in helping me assess this carpet!

(Sorry but photos are not the best - some under different lighting)

It is a typical Nain and they are not selling very well right now and I think the shop value of this type of goods is about $3000 a meter

Well thats what you get from city master weavers. I think if the public could see how difficult it is and how long it takes to weave these carpets with such precise drawings they would appreciate them a lot more. Unfortunately the wider media is not interested in promoting this art form in a way that it deserves.

Looks like it is of very good quality. Agree about price with Sharafi & Co. These rugs are still available on the market, but price went up quite a bit in Iran for any fine quality rug. Even if the market is slow for fine rugs it is a good investment if you can buy it at a good price.

Many thanks to all for your comments and insights.

I have always liked the Nains (for there "classic" Persian style and the (collectivly) outstanding workmanship. Perhaps I will have a chance to see a 4 laa someday.

I do understand if Nains perhaps seem understated (in color palette) or too formal for some folks. Or prefer the charm of village and nomadic rugs...

It's great that we have such a broad field of choices for folks that appreciate and enjoy the world of carpets!

Thanks again for your help!
