Back in 2008, I walked into a high end rug store in Dubai and soon discovered that I could not afford any of the nice silk rugs there. I bought this really small ruglet (11" wide by 17" long excluding fringes). Paid about USD 125 for this. The sales note says Zirtelephoni Qum silk yellow. I think I overpaid for it but it was my very first silk rug purchase before I would buy a larger one 8 years later. Any opinions? Do ruglets small like this have any value? Any insights into the design?

It is a very pretty and finely woven Qum. I don't think you paid too much for it, in fact it seems as if the price was fair. It obviously have a value but I doubt a dealer would be interested in a piece like this. If you are thinking of selling it the best way is to do it privately.

Thank you Sharafi! This is used as a decorative piece at home. I do not have any intention of selling it; my question on value was out of curiosity only.

Even back in 2008 that was a pretty good price - particularly considering Dubai is not a place you'd normally associate with bargains! Not the highest of qualities but a good silk piece as a first silk rug.

Nice rug. You didn't overpay. Prices went up and today price is between 250 and 330 USD in stores in Europe or US.
