I think Henry is a bit of a con Auction. As you know they say that their rugs are without reserve but if you want to buy a good rug it never ends up with you. Certainly not at a good price unless you pay over the odds for. Then some of the sold ones seem to reappear the later sales. If you do not see an image of the whole rug it is probably that it has a problem. The bit that is not in the photo. Unless you are going there to inspect them physically I would not recommend buying from there.

Hi Sharafi,

That is very interesting indeed and thanks for your tips of being cautious. I don't like it that they have minimum prices on items that are not worth millions (or hundreds of thousands). The same is done at another site called catawiki, there they even do not tell you what the minimum price is that they would sell it for.
For these Henry guys, I can add another interesting thing I saw. There was a rug some months ago that I found beautiful, a silk qum rug (even without being an expert, I would probably never buy any silk rug without seeing and touching it in person!). The interesting bit was in its description; in german, they advertised it as a chinese qum rug. Then you would go to the english translation, and the chinese side of things was not there. Is it because being a german based auction house they had to cover their behinds locally but did not think it was necessary to do the same for international buyers?

Hypothetically though, I would still love to know what kind of rugs you and other members on the forum would fancy getting in this auction...
