Hello! i need help with identifying a carpet. When i read the signature i get abit confused, i read it as "Anshari" but it looks very similar to "Enteshari" Another thing i would like to get your opinon on is if the signature is fake? Is it rewoven on? Is it a real Isfahan carpet, how old do you Think it is and how much would an estimate price be for this?

The size is 2m x 3.12m and it have around 640 000 - 810 000 knots per Square meters.

Thanks!

It says Iran Isfahan Enteshari but I wouldn't imagine it's a genuine signature. If so it wasn't planned into the design of the rug as the pattern is interuppted.

Hi badash,

Not one of the experts on this forum, but just wanted to tell you that I really like your rug. Like the colours and seems to be in absolutely beautiful condition. I have bought several rugs from ebay and auctions so far, and have not really managed to buy for less that about 300Eur per 1 million knots for rugs in very good to excellent condition like yours (if that calculation makes sense at all).

If you don't like the rug, just let me know.....

I just bought it and dont look to sell it... i mostly want advice to wheter it is Isfahan rug or not... i see that most Isfahan rugs have coloured lines on the fringes called "Kheft". Mine rug dont have these lines.. is this a must for all Isfahan rugs to have Kheft or there can be rugs without them but still be Isfahan?

Hi,

Hope you will get the answer from one of the other experts to confirm what Little Persia told you... From my 1-year old internet knowledge, I have never seen a rug that looks so much like an Isfahan and is not...
As far as I know (from the internet of course!) these coloured warps are more often than not absent in Isfahans. I had a small rug posted not long ago, no signature and no colours on the kelims, still was deemed an Isfahan. Internet says that the kheft measure is a bit like the raj measure, you take 6.5 cm and see how many knots there are? But agree that it would be interesting to know who started the colouring in Isfahan rugs for making that counting easier and who of the weavers follows that. No matter what, beautiful rug you have and really good price!

I think it is an Isfehan and looking at the back of the signature I don't think it has been put in afterwards. If it was put in afterwards I think they would have gone for a better known name to the public.
