Rug measures 27 feet by 12 feet. It has the blur weft of a Sarouk along with the floral sprays, but the wool doesn't have the shiny, good wool feel or color. It is not painted...more of a salmon color. Knot count is about 120. Is it an Arak??..1970"s??

It is appears to be a pretty Saruk. I am not sure if you are asking there is a difference between Saruk and Arak. If that is the question as far as I know there is no differentiation in the weaves as such.

Hi all,
It doesn't have the richness of a Sarouk and the borders are non-Sarouk looking. So I thought the Arak was a lesser version of the Sarouk... Like a 'poor man's Sarouk. That's why I thought it must be an Arak. It was left behind by the former owner of a manse in our area along with a beautiful Woven Legions massive rug. It is soiled from everyday use and we took it to auction to help her sale it. It's totally in tact and I put the estimate at 2k to 5k. ...thanks!!

I was wondering if this could be a Yazd??? They also have the blue double wefts. It is the border that makes me think it is not a Sarouk or Arak rug. Yazds were similar to Kermans and some of border designs remind me of Kerman rugs. Also, it is a very thick rug with more muted colors and the knot count is barely 110 to 120 KPSI. Sharafi and the community, can you re-evaluate?? Thanks!!

It is a Mahal. A less fine version of Sarouk, but still a good quality. Less shine in wool. 1960/70 seems right.

KAD and Sharafi,
Thank you for your feedback. I got myself locked out of RugRag for awhile due to a password problem...just wanted to thank you both.
