Excuse me for posting this on this forum, but my daughter has bought an Iranian rug in Holland. Can she bring the rug back home to the USA?

Does she have to claim it at customs? It is a small rug and she was thinking about buying a cheap suitcase and bringing it on the plane with her.

Thanks,

It is not legal to bring it to US. You might get in big trouble.

Is the rug Persian, or is it Afghan, Indian, Chinese...? Is there debate over where it is from? No idea how the customs are with it - I would have thought it would be more concerned with trying to stop trade between Iran and the US rather than individuals bringing over possessions but I don't live in the States so don't know.
