I saw the rug this morning and I still don't know what it is. Overall it was not that pleasing to look at. I read up on the Kasvin, Hamadan town, Alvand carpet in A. Cecil Edwards book and looked for the 'fabric' structure he describes for these carpets per his specifications: 1) turkish knot, 2) double wefted, 3) 10 by 11 knot per inch, 4) Bijar type structure, 5) very thick lustrous wool, 6) 16th century overall vase and floral design, 7) use of German/ Swiss chemical dyes initially, then natural dyes later. This carpet did not live up to all of this criteria. Perhaps this is how this carpet has evolved over the past few decades. I did not purchase. Because of the RugRag, backed up by some resources es, I was able to make an informed decision. Rugrag rocks! !!
