Hoping that someone can identify the writing/signatures on this rug. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Rug design is kashmar which often focuses on archeological motif. Writing may or may not translate, often it does not

Thinking it is Kashmar also from eastern region of Iran near the Mashad area. I have one of these with a dark blue indigo background...the writing is supposed to be Kurfic...things found beneath the surface of the earth..lots of vases and jugs and urns. I love these Kashmar!!!

Sorry, second thoughts about its being a Kashmar...Not sure about the fringes though. .most Kashmar I see have unknotted fringes that are just the warp ends tied off. Is this Kashmar closer to a Mashad in structure??

yes - very good eye cartona! Mashad is a very good guess. My initial thought on this is design is Kashamar. However, further than that there are not enough images to say exactly from where. We need selvage and fringe detail. Do you have further information relating to how the rug was acquired?

Also if you would please save the images to the forum - we do not allow externally sourced images

Looking at the pictures I think it s a Kashmar of very good quality - not comparable to the rugs made the last 20 years.

After looking at the new photos and based on the end finishing my vote is high quality meshed with Kashmar design - close proximity. As KAD indicates, very good quality

Thank you all for your help! Any clues as to what values I should put into the estimator?
