Normally I would say Chinese on a rug this size, but the fringe knots aren't the typical grapefruit knots Definite not India due to information found on an article on Rug Rag. Any thoughts would be appreciated Terrible pictures as I attached incorrect ones. No stains just pile direction

Hi,
Looks like a Hereke??? Sharafi would have to tell you if it is a Chinese copy. You did not mention the size. Thanks!

I agree with Nick. I don't think its Hereke. Initially I thought it was Indian but the back doesn't look like Indian to me. However, from selvedges I think it is Turkish lower quality silk, possibly Kaisery. First Floor, unit 9 1 Chandos Road London NW10 6NF UK www.sharafiandco.com

Don't Turkish rugs have a multi-cord selvage while qum and Chinese have single selvage? Please correct me if I'm wrong. I realize the rug 8'X10' isn't top tier. I have a very nice 4X5 hereke which I leave a picture and also show it's selvage\\ Thanks for all your help File Attachment(s): btuma6 attached the following image(s):

Chinese rug, probably not 100% silk pile. Quality is callend 260 line, usually 70% silk and 30 % cotton mix pile. Fringes 100% silk (good for burn test). Lower quality compared to the highend chinese 300 line rugs. Typical chinese mass production rug, but not cheap since fine knots.
