First, I am probably the least expert on the forum so take it for what it is worth. It is a beautiful rug. When I first saw your pictures I thought Caucasian. Then I found the book I remembered and the designs are in the same vein. "Dragon Rugs" from the Shirvan and Karabagh areas. The book is "Early Caucasian Rugs" by Charles Grant Ellis. Now, those illustrated are antique, while the rug pictured does not appear to be. However the Caucasus and Turkey are next door neighbors. So it might be a design related to those of the Caucasus. Quite possibly made in Turkey, as what I can see of the foundation looks like what I have often seen in other Turkish rugs. Those are my thoughts on this rug, right or wrong. Enjoy it or make a nice profit, it is really very pretty.
