Requesting ID and ballpark value for “wool persian rug”

I’d appreciate any analysis, ID, and valuation you could give on the rug in the attached pictures.

• Acquired: This is one of several rugs gifted to us by a wealthy friend of the family, who’s father was an eccentric entrepreneur and world traveler. Their house was full of rugs like this. All she knew was that it was one of what her mother called “the wool persian rugs”. It may have arrived at their house during the 1960’s or 70’s.

• Location: We are located in the central/northern KY region near Louisville and Cincinnati. The rug itself has been in dry storage for a couple years (rolled up tightly in a tarp). When it was in our friend’s family’s house, it was in a lounge that seemed to get very little traffic.

• Under consideration: We are considering selling the rug. We would prefer to sell locally, or to put out wider ads for someone to pick up from here if they buy it (online, what have you).

I have tried to include at least the photo types as described in the 4 basic Photos guidelines of this forum. There are also pics of the labels that were on the underside of the rug. We cn provide further/different pictures if recommended.

Tabriz with Antique Ardebil rug design-- same as the famous Ardebil carpet in Victoria Albert Museum -- Cartouche in border, center medallion and the spandrels with the quarter of medallion motif. You can plug in the detail into the rug appraisal estimator to get an idea of its value...nice rug.

It appears to be a good quality Mashad. The wool and dyes appear to be of quite good quality. There appears to be a signature at one end but there is no clear image of it. A very good piece

Thank you for your thoughtful and detailed reply. Your mention of a "signature" piques my curiosity. Where should I be looking for it? On the face side or the reverse side? Will it be woven in or written on with ink? Do the labels (in the pics in original post) have the signature on them? Would it look like letters, or like a custom design (similar to the symbol stamps used by asian artists to sign their watercolors)?

It is woven in the middle of the top end in Farsi and it would be quite bold probably on a cream background

Thank you for your thoughtful and detailed reply. I am not good at knowing some of the other details to plug in. For instance, if you look at the picture with the tape measure showing the knots, I am not sure how to tell the KPSI, because i am not sure what exactly a knot looks like. Can you tell the KPSI from the picture?
Also, can you tell if it is 1 ply or 2 ply from the pictures? Can you tell what kind of "fibers" it is (wool, quark wool, jute or wool or cotton foundation)?
These items seem to make a big difference in the Rug Estimator Pro results.

kpsi is the number of knots in a one inch by one inch area. If you want to be very precise, not necessary for this piece, you take it from the centre and the corner of the carpet and then take an average. But Nick has already done that for you. It is cotton foundation and it appears to be 2 ply wool.
