We just bought our first rug from sellers who had originally bought out some guys collection - but they had no information. We just loved the bright colours and pattern, but would love to know more about it. We don't even know if it's handmade. Greatly appreciate any insights.

Thanks so much

Welcome to the forum - the room looks amazing. As for the rug, I do not know flat woven rugs particularly well. However, if I had to guess it appears to be wool on wool foundation. The warp threads have the character of Persian Kilims to my eye, although since the rug appears fairly new, it may also be another Kilim making country since imports are banned. It will be interesting to see what the others have to say.

It is an Afghan Kilim new production and I think it's a Meymaneh. Very fine for a Meymaneh. Good piece.

Wow - thanks so much everyone. It's like a gigantic mystery that takes up the majority of the room, and learning more about it is so exciting! The knowledge here is really awesome.
@Sharafi & Co when you say "new production", what sort of dates are we talking?

Thank you, thank you!

When you say 'Meymaneh', do you mean Maimana (Maymana) in NW Afghanistan?
