This appears to be a 1920's/30's possible Kerman. Does look like a nice one. Do you have photos of the whole carpet, or more of the area with blue plainweave? What is the little bit of gold silk looking thread on the edge? Was the rug hanging?

Sure looks over 3m long. Good rug, I think after seeing more photos maybe 1940's Kerman is more accurate. Selvage needs fixing, most buyers want formal rugs in pristine condition but the rug does appear to have some good character. The Kerman type have fallen out of favor a little, but when you find a good one with allover or covered field design with nice colors, ok condition at a really good price there's no harm in buying

From a technical standpoint of transition of Kerman rug weaving this is a really solid example. The condition leaves some to be desired, but yes, you should be happy

Question on the transition period for Kerman's. Is the 40's when the Kerman's transitioned from the non invasive borders, mil fleur design to the borders invading the body of the rug??? Also, were any of the Kerman's carved after 1940's??? I have seen some of these and they appear to be Persian and not Indian.
