It looks as if its about 30 years old. It is carpet weaving wool but it feels very soft to touch and with a good sheen and it does not effect its durability. $2500 is a good price for a shop sale. I think it is on the high side for a private sale. Please keep in mind that with the photos that are given (even if they are good) valuing a rug is not that easy. The best way is to see it, feel it and look and see what problems it may have. The shape, dyes, density, so many factors that effect the price that cannot just be seen in photos for a proper valuation. So these are more guesstimates.
