Sarouk Rug:

- Got it in the late 1990s
- Wool pile and foundation
- 3m x 1.3m
- 324 kpsi

Random:

- Again late 1990s
- Wool on wool
- 2.1m x 1.3m
- approx 300kpsi

The random rug has some similarities with a qom rug I posted a while back - both start with kilims on one end and the inner and outer edges of the borders look almost the same.

Thanks a lot!

Hi RugPro. Sorry wasn't aware of that! Just thought it would be a little easier for everybody if I put everything in one thread.

Could I just ask how you determined the 2nd rug to be a Sarouk? Is it the design?

Thanks for your help!

Second rug just a guess - without many images I just have to do the best I can. 1980's Sarouk perhaps. Could be a multitude of other types. I think you would be better off with in person inspection on these

Could it perhaps be a contemporary qom rug, like the one I provided a link for? There are several similarities - the kilim on one end and the floral design around the border. Although, the one was wool on a cotton foundation.

I agree with Rugpro on the first one but the second one is a Qum 1980s I think.

Hi Sharafi,

Do you have any idea what the value of these rugs could be?

Also, do you know what the tag on the Sarouk rug says? I have a feeling the middle numbers are perhaps the dimensions of the rug or something (which wouldn't make sense) but anyways.

Thanks!

As Rugpro continually says valuation is not really the sort of thing you do online from images, especially with some pieces that have to be seen and felt. There is also the fact what you want the valuation for. If it is for replacement value, market value or auction value.

I usually give an auction value because it is what I consider to be the bottom value.

Having said that I think your Saruk will bring $900 to $1400 and on a good day maybe more.

Your Qum while a good rug but not so fashionable and I think will bring $400 to $700.
