This seems to be a very old Carpet. Suspected to be Tabriz, but possibly Kasham Mohtasham. Any help with identification, age, and appraisal would be much appreciated.

Hi,
Agree with Rug Pro. From the back it looks like a Bijar with the second part of the knot hidden under the other one. When a knot is tied, it is looped around 2 warps. When you see 3 successive knots of the same color, then the other knot node is hidden under the other one since it would not be possible to see just 3 knot nodes. This is typical of the Bijar structure. It also looks like it may have the salt and pepper effect where 2 different colors are used in the wool giving it this effect.

I don't believe it is the Mohtasham Kashan as it structure is not the same and it does not have the typical blossom and tulip bprder.

I think it is a Tabriz from Marand. Definitely not a Bijar.

Upon closer inspection I agree with Sharafi - Tabriz is certainly more likely.

Antique rug, Iran, Tabriz Area or Sarab (my thought). Made 1900 - 20. Poor condition. Fringes and selvedge are not original and therefore better than the rest oft the rug. Seems to be an old iran made restoration.
