Hi:

I have a rug to sell ebay, elsewhere. Done quite a bit of homework, region, culture, tribe movement, types of knots, materials, whatnot.

My rug, minimally--from seller description--Bokhara/Teke--possible Turk Bokhara locale (give or take a few or more hundred miles any direction--;-))
He noted design was very unusual, probably made by less well known or sized tribe.

He stressed not so much knots (about 288-16x18 my count; it weighs ALOT; it IS a very fine/tight low pile weave, smooth to the touch). I believe it's double--as opposed to single--knotted, wool on wool. Reverse side is immaculate. Topside has one area where small tiny stars are missing. (Grrrr, moth while in storage 6 months--wrapped, go figure.)

I'm comfortable with Afghani (not Pakistan) description; the rest of rugrag estimate categories from rugrag estimator accurate. Like I say (hope)--Bokhara/Turkmenistan?

Want to be sure description region, quality is accurate, rugrag estimate included likewise--more/less $900-$1600. (If so, perhaps a bargain in the works!) Knots may not be as important as claimed but this is one heavy well constructed rug, owned it since circa 1998--desert southwest influence totems appealing. Specialty Design? You tell me. I'd like to think so...

Included 2 good like/kind examples found elsewhere on web. (One in particular has same edging/concept; other example totems.) You'll recognize them for comparison. Any other info, just ask. ((50+ HQ photos, closeups--ruler/guage, whatever--damaged area extreme closeup/angles.)

Want pleased buyer!

Thanks. Really appreciate comments.

Pakistani Lahore. Value may not be super low, but the rug exhibits signs of use and enjoyment - a small stain, some light moth nibbles. For a new rug (relatively new meaning 35 years or newer) this sort of signs of use greatly diminish value. The rug appears to be in good condition with some wear to the pile, a little loss of crispness. The rug does appear to have faux silk or silk highlights. You may want to test this although in most certainty this would be artificial silk. I am surprised by your comment on weight - I am not sure relative to what, but you may try breaching the pile to see if the rug is holding any dirt, perhaps vacuum it with the rug face down from the back to see what may vibrate out the front onto the floor. The above is for the largest rug - there seem to be three different rugs photographed here. Also, if you need help with the estimator, I would not be surprised if you may be counting double the horizontal knot by accident - which means you may be counting both nodes of one knot as separate knots as opposed to both nodes as one in the same knot. This can dramatically increase the knot count in a way knots are not counted.

I agree with Nick, RugPro about its being Pak. Why do some pics show a red pile and others do not?? Is it a problem with the camera resolution?? Tekke rugs are usually low pile with more of an aged look to the color..-- this one looks new.
