First carpet purchase - some help with its history please

Hello forum experts -
Regardless of its value on the market, I really love this rug and it will go perfectly in my new one-bedroom apartment. I bought it from a small antiques shop in Rottingdean, England for £150. My reason for posting is that I'm interested in its history. It would be great to talk to its background if Im ever asked. I hope these photos suffice and thank you all for your contribution. -Paul

A Antique shop should not be selling rugs of this quality

I agree with Nick - it does appear to be machine made although this does not mean it has zero value, it's just not as desirable and of course much more readily available and easier to be made so tend to have very low second hand sale prices.
