Hello, I recently bought this rug and I’m curious about the opinions from the experts on this forum. The person I bought it from had just started a little shop and I don’t believe he was a dealer with experience. He told me it is a Kashan rug, about 70 years old. I’m hoping someone could tell me if this is true and how this is determined. The asking price was € 450,- and I bought it for € 300,- ($ 380,-), its 410cm x 318 cm (13.5ft x 10.5 ft). If I counted correctly, it has a KPSI of 275. I really like it but was it a good deal? Thank you for your time.

You certainly have got a very good deal and I assume that the rug has no defects. Also it certainly is not 70 years old. Its about 30 to 40 years old and it is a very pretty carpet. It is a Kashan.

In a shop it would go for at least Eur2000. Telling the age has to do with experience and seeing a lot of rugs. Looking at the fringes designs colours and host of other factors. With this piece to great extend is the design and colour.
