I love the colour on this rug; specially the brown border with a darker and lighter brown pattern; goes well with te colours inside the carpet. could anyone kindly tell what this is?

Age may not be quite old. Is fringe original? We would need to see fringe, selvage, knotting. Also, the rug does appear to have considerable wear. Very attractive design / color as you note, although some foundation does appear to be colored.

It is old; was in a poor state but I have added repairs and those too were not indeed much to bring the rug back in mint condition. as you have noticed there is considerable wear on the rug; I would say the work done on this rug was not at par with the type work the carpet weavers I hire to repair my rugs; I do remember not investing much on the rug repair; as i thought this wasnt a very special piece but loved the colours and went ahead with the minimum restoration; just to make it look presentable. I am not sure the fringe is original. I will post more detailed pics if those can help you judge what type of rug this is. thank you.

I agree but what do you think about the fringe? It looks a bit Indo to you too?

The fringe is a bit worrying. In fact it does look too good for this piece. But then the back tells its own story and that is really what I am going with
