The size is 4.25m by 3m. How old would this be and approx value if possible.

Looks like an Indian rug that has been designed to look like an Afghan Chobi or Ziegler.

What type of value do you mean? Resale, retail?

Thanks for the reply, really it is not Turkish? I was looking at buying this rug ($800). I was told that this was really expensive Turkish rug with a high resale value ($15000) yes:-), that was the figure that was mentioned. I assume this is not the case? cheers

If anybody could give me some feedback about this rug and about the rugs authenticity and what this would sell for I would appreciate that, I can still get out of buying this because I have not paid yet. But I need some feedback asap. If this is indeed an Indian made rug designed to look like something else, the value or investment is not worth considering?

Hi - without the necessary photos as indicated in the forum instructions there is not much to say.

Otherwise, this appears to be an Indian made rug, perhaps woven less than 10 years ago

Thanks for that, I id not have any other photos because this was an online auction so I just could use these photos from the seller. I have already backed out of this auction now. This rug was advertised as a valuable Turkish rug ($15000) value. The good thing about this forum is that I can now get feedback before I buy, I am pleased to have found this site. This forum helps me to compensate for my lack of Rug knowledge:-)Thanks for that, cheers

You are wise to be skeptical of the rug's "retail price". It appears to be Indian, not that it has severe impact on value, but that may be some indication of improper id.

Retail brand new these rugs can cost a fair amount of money, however, lightly used in a second hand situation for a carpet that has relatively no information being purchased in high risk sight unseen auction in the hands of someone who does not know rugs or is under false ideas + may need a wash, who knows - this all equates to caution or pay very little.
