OK, here's the other rug that I mentioned way back when....I got it in mid-late 80's from family of retired air force officer... I had it appraised at that time but have since lost the appraisal...best I can remember is that it is supposed to be a Tabriz; it's appraised value at that time was about $6,000; but I assume that at that point it was probably exaggerated. His only note of interest was that it was unusual because it had green color and that the color was not often used as it's the "color of the Prophet". It is 5'4" x 3'3". Any help or info would be appreciated. Thanks.

Oh, I also included a photo of something I've never noticed in all of these years. There a tag stapled to the rug and the staples have been rusting. I assume this is not good and needs to come off. Any idea what it means or if I should pay any special attention to taking it out? If there's any rust left behind in the rug; should that somehow need to be washed or removed?

I'm not an expert so I cant help but I must say that it is a beautiful rug! Love the colours and the design...kinda reminds of an isfahan rug :)
There appears to be a small yellow stain though...but maybe you haven't used it in a long time and its become discoloured over time or something?

The carpet appears to be hand made, however, the stain is going to be problematic. Have you tried taking it to a professional cleaner?

No, it's not been cleaned in the 30ish years that I've had it; plus who knows how long before that. I haven't really noticed a "stain"; I'll try to look closer.
I'll probably get this one and the Nain cleaned at the same time at some point.
So, is it Tabriz?....any other interesting info you can share on it?

The staining is on one side of the medallion and then several small scattered spots. The yellow stains may not come out in wash. The brown spots you may want to approach in a non-chemical way if the stains just sit on the tips of the wool. It appears to be hand knotted, relatively decent weave, it seems to be Persian although could easily be something else. The design appears to be Isfahan. Please check - is the fringe silk?

Looks like I've got another silk burning...!! Guess I'll be getting good at that....(just kidding)....just to show my ignorance and make sure that I'm doing what we need...is the fringe the dangly strings on the top and bottom...?? I assume it is but want to make sure that's what your talking about.....

OK, just cut a piece of fringe and here are before burning one end and after burning one end. This one kind of burned straight from the end up to the pliers that I was holding it with and it really didn't leave anything, just kind of burned off....I didn't notice any smell other than something burning but my nose doesn't work well anyway, that's why I had my wife smell the one that I burned the other night. One of the photos the fringe showed a great deal of luster with very clear ply the way silk fringe is sometimes twisted. Seeing the images, this appears to be cotton, which would be a common foundation. Fine rug, this would have been relatively costly new. Great photos!
