Help in Rug identification and estimation

Dear all,

Many thanks in advance for your help identifying of this rug.

It's been in my family for over a 100 years, it's was belong to my great grandmother and she lived in denmark.
the rug as far as i know it's Handmade. it's very large and heavy. size in cm: 265cm(104.3 in) width X 376cm(148 in) height, weight about 20 kilos (44lb). most of the symbols on the carpet are birds and flowers. the carpet have 2 small holes that could be fixed (see photo)

Can you post a picture of the selvedge and the fringe from the back of the rug?

sorry for the basics but what do you mean by "selvedge and the fringe"
do you mean the EDGE of the carpet? when it's flip on the back ?

Sorry - typical dealers mistake - yes, flip the rug back and take a picture that shows the edge and the fringes. Perfect would be a corner of the rug.

farahan sarouk or josan. hard to find size. damage is problematic, but not insurmountable. 100 years sounds about right, but there is very very low probability of this being significantly older than that.

i flipped the rug ans took few photos, hopes it helps in ID the rug.
i would like to get a rough estemate about the rug as is.

Thank you for the pictures. Agree with RugPro, Sarough Farahan, not very fine, pre World War I. In current condition I would estimate 1500.00. - 2.000.00 USD. The damages are quite an issue about the value. If you would like to keep it you should have it restored, but it will cost a lot of money to have it in a good condition.
