Hi, i'm new to this forum and have enjoyed the posts and knowledgable
information. I bid and won A rug on eBay. The seller had the rug listed with
the following description roubini "one of a kind" handmade kashan. I received
this rug which is a totally different rug than the one pictured in the auction.
The seller is wholesaler whom sells a multitude of different items and
apparently made a mistake on the description and picture. I know absolutely
nothing about rugs. Can you give me any information? I don't know if its
machine or handmade, new or old or has any value. I think it is a tree of life
rug. Thanks for your time.

Hello and welcome to the forum.
Looks like the whole seller doesn´t know much about rugs. The rug you posted is a Qum (area) and not a Kashan. It was made 1970-80 and is of pretty good quality.
What did you pay for it?

Hi,
Thank you so much for the information. I paid $121.00 (winning bid). So, its from Qum? I need to look them up. I have absolutely no knowledge of rugs. Any idea of its worth? Or any information would be wonderful. Is is a tree of life rug?

very good find for the price. there is a LOT of risk to buying at auction but this appears to be a solid value.

Couple of follow-up questions...comments. This rug is wool, right? Also, how would determine if it is vegetable dyed?

Wool pile, cotton foundation, chemical dyes. Price was very good, but agree with rug pro about buying at auction.
