Hello all

I recently inherited this rug from my grandfather and he has had it for well over 50 years, its been wall hung all this time so its in mint condition I think but I know zero about rugs, can anyone help identify the rug and may be give an appraisal estimate.
I found a small tag on the back that says Qum Kurk 158x108

Thanks in advance for any help

Welcome Noel - so the information that comes with this carpet appears to be accurate - a hand knotted rug made in Qom Iran. Nice quality carpet.

Hi Rugpro

Thanks for the info, I also called a rug expert in CapeTown (Alexander Joles Isfahan) yesterday and he also said the same thing as you thats its a Qom/Qum rug and I must bring it in for assessment but from the photos he estimated it to be worth R15000 -R16000 which is about 1500 dollars. He offered to purchase it from me for 800 dollars but I can't sell such a work of art. It reminds me of my late grandpa who gave it to me and I will keep it hung on my wall cause everytime I look at it it brings a smile to my face.

Welcome to the forum.
The estimate is fair. Very nice rug - good idea to keep it - really nice design and hard to find in this condition these days.
