I'd also like to mention the rug is in need of a good cleaning and also, because I've had the rug laid the way it is for like 10+ years, the fringe on one end is all clumped and tangled (it can be untangled) and on the other side, the fringe is folded.

And thanks very much Angel

Hello Tracey, I am far from being an expert on rugs, I come to this site to learn from the professionals. I would not be able to help with your question, just admiring your rug.

Your rug is a iranian contemparary Qum rug. Pile is kurkwool, foundation is Cotton. it is a very nice rug of good Quality. It was made within the last 25 years. The fringes on the upper side are still in good condition, on the lower side the rug has a typical Kilim - this is where the knotting of the rug started. On this side there were no fringes. A professional rug was is recommended.
I checked the rugs value with the rug estimator and it gave me this value:

http://www.RugRag.com/Ap...-441D-9F74-341EF709E151

which very well corrosponsd with a Price a found on a Website in the US:

http://www.catalinarug.c...oduct/qum-rug-46-x-610/

A retail value of 2700 - 3500 USD would be my Suggestion as well.

Thanks very much KAD! I had a feeling it wasn't Isfahan, but the rug does have the curvy vines which are typical or Isfahan rugs. But surprised its a Qum - I've only ever encountered pure silk ones.

Is the retail value you gave me taking into account the condition of the rug? If so, would a professional cleaning and perhaps fixing of the kilim/fringe have much of an effect on its value?

There is nothing to fix - the rug is in good condition. Having it professionally washed would make sense. The value will not be effected by any washing. The value I mentioned is retail price for a new or as new rug in a shop - private sale of course would be less.
