I posted this rug when I first joined the forum and it was identified as a Turkish rug. Can you tell me what type of Turkish rug it is, it age and approximate value?? The pictures I posted before were taken in a dark room with part of the rug under furniture. It has the red weft that Turkish rugs have and stylized Botefs.

Well I think (almost sure) its a Kordi Ghoochan, hence a Persian not a Turkish rug. This type of very fine weaving has been going on for about 25 years in the region. The retail value for it is about $2000 assuming that its is about 3 square meter. First Floor, unit 9 1 Chandos Road London NW10 6NF UK www.sharafiandco.com

Hooray!!! It's a Persian. You are right, it does measure about 3 meters square-- 4 ft 4 inches by 7 feet 8.5 inches. Do these Kurd rugs have symmetrical knots? Thank you for this identification. I am absolutely thrilled. We have had this rug for about 25 years.
