Neighbours were taking a lg carpet to the dump. I wanted a look at it because it looked Persian and would have been a shame .
Label says Brinton Peterborough Sar-U-Khan 8’6 x 11’4 .It was bought in 1945 is in excellent shape except for mold smell. I have shampooed it and is Airing in sun and rain. Will cost aprox $300 for enzyme cleaning. Don’t know if it is worth it.Too large for my rms.
Would like to know value .Don’t want to clean if not worth it.
Thanks for info,
Sue

I think it is an Indian carpet. There seems to be a bit of problem with it in the clear field. If that is the case it won't be worth much, as it is very difficult and expensive to do restorations in clear field areas.

I think this may be a machine made rug. Well made, but not worth a tremendous amount. Worth cleaning if you like the aesthetic and there are no hard spots or serious condition issues

I'd agree it looks like a high end machine-made. Would need to see the direction of the knots which isn't clear. A picture of the knots going into the fringe would help with this.

Can it be called a "Persian" carpet if it was made in Canda, as the label says?

No, it can only be called a Persian carpet if made in Iran. Not that that would stop people selling it as Persian or "Persian style"/"Persian design".
