The colours in the different photos are very different so makes a bit difficult to asses it. However, if you are suggesting that you can get it for 350 whether £ or $ it is a no brainer.

As I said from the photos it is difficult to tell. From what I can see this piece is about 30 years old and that is purely a guess more than anything else and I think it is a Persian Ardebil. On those basis and assuming that it has nothing wrong with it then in an auction I think it should bring about $1500 and the shop price is $3500.

I have attached photos of the back to the post you have to download to see ..its certainly not Persian Ardebil.

Its a Shirvan of a large size.

I did see those and it was as a result of that I think it is an Ardebil, otherwise when I first saw your photos of the front I thought it was a very nice Kuba.

Can this be a transition rug-- elems of both Kuba and Shirvan.. Afshan Kuba, Zaghly village design. I have seen this rug on this site: http://www.azerbaijanrug...ba-afshan-146x210cm.htm. I don't know its value, but this site has a project called Antique Rugs of the Future and I wonder if it a rug that was created by this company -- As I read there was a period of time when the Russians took over the manufacture of these Azerbajan rugs and bastardized the tribal designs in their collective production sites...I am not recommending this site for buying rugs, but maybe it is a product of this new 'company' who is making authentic Caucasus rugs using all of the old techniques-- hand karted, hand spun, hand dyed, hand knotted-- all in the old designs. This page lists sold items too, but nothuing of your 8 by 10 feet piece. For what it is worth, take a look. Hope this helps.

Thanks Cartona for your informative post, I have come across the antique rugs of the future site before, their rugs are of beautiful designs and colors, but I don't know about the quality. The rug I'm asking about here is not one of their production though, Its has good age and went through minor cosmetic repair. besides I don't think these antique rugs of the future reproduced the aubergine color or the the original caucasian indigo color.
