Hi Everyone!

I have these 2 rugs (pretty sure their isfahan rugs) and both have signatures of them. Both signatures are very similar as well!

I was just wondering if anyone had any idea who the weavers were or what the signatures say?

Also, one of the rugs has a kheft which apparently indicates quality - how do you interpret it? Because when I tried finding out the KPSI of the rug but because its so fine it very difficult to count the individual knots on the back of the rug.

I also decided to add more pictures of rug 1 in case anybody was interested. I think its a particularly nice one! Unfortunately couldn't get other photos for rug 2.

Signatures very different but iran isfahan end two words same remember written backwards cf english
I think we have exhibition piece by first master

Yup I figured out the first 2 words were Iran and Isfahan but I wonder who the weavers are. Would be awesome if they were as well known as the Seirafians for instance.

The first one is "Iran Isfehan Rabyee" and the second one is "Iran Isfehan Dadrey". They are both contemporary weavers and not known. However, very nice pieces.

Thank you very much for your reply. Its unfortunate the rug weavers are unknown - these would have otherwise been very special! Just a quick question, do you know how to interpret kheft? I've read how to in a couple of different websites but I'm very confused! Like I said because the first rug is so fine, its impossible to find out the kpsi by just counting individual knots across a length of 1 inch.

Kheft is 100 warp lines. Your Rabyee seems to be very fine and I am sure both are over a 1m knots per square meter. Sorry I am metric

Ok so what exactly is considered a kheft? Are the individual colours a kheft? So 1 red= 100 warp lines and 1 blue = 100 warp lines or do they together (red+blue)= 100 warp lines? And how do you convert the number or warp lines into KPSI?

Well if you look at the kilim end of your rug you see blue lines along them at equal distances. So from one blue line to anther is one theft, which is 100 warp lines. If it is not a Jufti knot then there are a 100 knots in between each line if it is jufti knots then it is 50 knots.

Ok so from one blue line to another = kheft. So if I were to count, lets say, 10 kheft in a 1 meter distance, that means there are 1000 warp lines. Right?

If so, what would 1000 warp lines tell me about the knot density/quality? How many kheft in a meter is considered "seirafian" standard/quality?

so if it is not jufti knot and in the perpendicular direction it has the same number of knots, it has 1000x1000 knots per square meter, which is 1M
