We bought this rug @15 years ago. It is finely woven with really good pile. There may be one area of repair which I have taken a pic of. I don't see an example of it on the internet. Can someone tell me what type it is, tribal, knot and its age? I have been looking at Utube videos on recognizing knots and want to check my evaluation. I have to admit, the more I learn the more I regret how I have treated my rugs in the past. Please let me know what you think. We have this in my husband's study right now. Previous house cleaners caught the end of the rug in the vacuum cleaner. I know now to prevent this from happening in the future. Thanks Rug Rag!!

Third photo looks like a different rug. The first two look like the same. Appear to be good colors. do you have more photos?

The 3rd pic is from the same rug. I am afraid my pics need to be reduced in size to see. I just took a couple more. Using the artificial light, the yellows do not appear as bright as they do in reality. I will attach these anyway.

it looks like it may be turkish. no older than 1960, probably more like 1970.

Thank you so much for replying. Do you know what kind of Turkish rug it is? Also, looking at the knots, can you tell me if these are turkish, juftef knots and the approximate knot count. I am trying to understand how to count the knots correctly.

knot count is around 110 - 140 knots an inch. maybe 11 on the horizontal, 11 on the vertical. adjusting for the size of a quarter I think you need to add one knot for ever 11 or so, but the weave is also probably a little uneven. Looks like a turkish knot with some offset. if I think of the type soon I will come back.
