The first rug I think is a Maurice because of the gold and design. I believe it is silk from the the number of knots and the fringe. There is a slight, very light green koolaid/jello stain that is only on the surface which looks very water soluble that would wash out. The pic was taken in the shop. I forgot to measure the rug. But it is approx.6feet by 3 feet. Can you identify? I can buy for for $120. The other one is hanging on the peg board. I included pics of it front front, folded, and with a penny since I didn't have a quarter.

To make it easier to identify it might be better to do one post for each rug. The cream one is a Persian Turkman and it is fine not very old but if that is the $120 one then it is a bargain. I cant tell from the photos but sometimes the fringes are silk in the very fine ones and it is possible with this one.

The smaller one is an oldish Afghan and it is not of great value but a good piece. You could probably pick one up in auction around $60 to $100.

Mauri is a different thing altogether. It is Persian Turkman and I think it is Circa 1980 and in a shop you would have to pay at least $2000

This for the Ersi Belouch: I noticed it has loops at the top on either end. Is it possible it could be a shorter 4-Panel Tent Door or Tent Window Ersi?
Picture is attached again

I am not quite sure what you mean by hoops. If you mean the stop finish and the kelim finish at the ends on the fringes that is just to stop the carpet from unravelling and I do doubt it was used for a door hanging.

there are loops at the top on both sides of the carpet. I am attaching a photo that shows this. They have been used as one is a bit frayed. Please let me know what you think. Thanks so much.

The fringe is a continuation of the warp wrapped around the top and bottom dowels of a loom. On many rugs, they cut the rug off the loom. This results in fringe with severed tips. On other rugs, they just remove the dowels from top and bottom - so the fringe retains the looped nature of a continuous yarn

Thank you. I understand now. Does this mean that this is facsimile Ersi rug made for the tourist market?
